a couple interesting names for soccer clubs

The next article will explore some of the quirkiest football team names in world soccer.

Argentina has about the most famous international teams, which contains perhaps the best footballer of all time, but the domestic division is less best known. There is one hugely competitive derby in the league, but that is not the only appealing thing in the division; one of the clubs, which plays in La Plata, is identified as ‘The Rat Stabbers’. The weird name originates from the fact there is a prominent medical school in the city where they would research on rats in the past. This name must be the oddest there is, but the team is actually just about the most successful and they even have a ground that can hold more people than many premier league clubs. The team has won the South American top team competition four times which makes it one of the best teams in Argentina, something the Estudiantes de La Plata owner would be very proud of.

Italian football is world today well-known, but a few of the names of the teams are not so best known. One of the most iconic teams to ever play in Italy through the 90’s was also well known as the Rossoneri or Diavolo, the former means the red and blacks, while the latter means The Devil. The first label has rather obvious connotations, which is of course from the colours of their home strip. The fresh AC Milan owner has taken over a club popular for its historic football teams, but also for its iconic soccer strip. The kit, which is similar to the football club logo, is comprised of vertical black and red stripes with white shorts. The shirt hasn't changed too much over recent years, unlike some other teams, which has helped to allow it to become so recognisable all all over the world. The success of the team as one of the best football clubs in Europe has helped to spread the sales of the shirt to every part of the planet.

A moderately small football team in the leading division of the Spanish league has just about the most humorous nicknames in world football, but it is a label that the community holds close. Los Pepineros, which equates to ‘the cucumbers’ play in one of the suburbs of Madrid. The suburb was its own community a number of years ago and it was where many of the farmers that worked in the district lived and, of course, they chiefly farmed cucumbers. The amusing name does not mean the team itself is any type of joke, as the Leganés owner would confirm, the team has made an important amount of revenue since establishing itself in the profitable Spanish top league. The club and the town have come a long way since their cucumber farming days.
